Here at Lofty Homes, we have durable and 100% waterproof SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) vinyl flooring. Also, our SPC flooring is a perfect DIY product.

Prep work

  1. Remove any furniture and personal belongings out of the work area.

  2. Clean and prepare your subfloor. Your subfloor must be sound and level.

  3. Measure your area to plan your layout.

  4. Install your LVP Tools needed:

  • Tape Measure

  • Utility Knife (to cut the LVP)

  • Straight Edge Level (to determine low spots)

  • Tapping Block or Rubber Mallet (easing the plank into place)

  • Wall Spacers (maintaining proper gaps around the perimeter)

  • Crowbar, Hammer (clicking the floor into place)

  • Safety Glasses

  • Protective Gloves

  • Knee Pads

Installation

It is important to use a Straight Edge Level to determine any low spots and fill them in to create a level subfloor.

We will do the installation from left to right.

  1. First plank, first row, place the Wall Spacers to the wall. We do this to prevent the buckled floor due to variation, temperature, and humidity due to the floor expansion.

  2. The second plank, first row, gently and tightly placing them to the short end of the first one.

  3. Folding the second plank down and lightly tapping the right edge of the short side of the plank until it clicks. It should be easy for you for Lofty Homes plank uses Unilin locking systems that allow floating installation (no nails or adhesive is needed). When reaching the end of the first row, you need to put another Wall Spacers against the wall.

  4. Reaching the end of the first row, you can start to measure the space between the right edge of the short side of the plank so that you can customize the last one for the perfect fit. You can use Utility Knife to cut the plank by hand. Checking How to cut vinyl plank flooring with one hand! - Lofty Homes Daily #6 on Lofty Homes YouTube Channel for details.

  5. Beginning with your second row, you need to stagger the plank by 1/2 length of the first corner plank, the first row. By doing this, your floor can have an attractive natural appearance.

  6. The first plank, the second row, folding it down horizontally until it clicks. Crowbar and Hammer are needed for the second row and so on. Checking our video Lofty Homes SPC Flooring. It's just that easy!  on Lofty Homes YouTube Channel for details.

  7. The second plank, the second row, place it horizontally and tapping it down (based on the lower edge of the first and the second plank, the first row). For the short side of the plank, you should use Tapping Block or Rubber Mallet to tap it down until it is locked.

You can continue the installation for the rest of the room by doing these steps repeatedly until reaching the last row.
